According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “disinfection with chlorine is the best guarantee of microbiologically safe water”.
Chlorine as such or in the form of other chlorinated compounds remains the only product capable of ensuring that water remains disinfected all the way from the water treatment plant to the end user’s tap.
Because of its properties, chlorine is highly effective in combating all types of microbes that water can contain – including bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeasts, and the algae and slime that proliferate inside supply pipes and tanks.
KERN S&D plants respond to a worldwide need for on-site industrial production of small volumes of chlorine and chlorinated products such as Sodium Hypochlorite.
KERN S&D has an innovative technology for the production of Sodium Hypochlorite “in situ” consisting of a bipolar membrane electrolyzer (does not contain mercury) or diaphragm (does not contain adbestos). Plants designed and developed by KERN SD use a safe, environmentally friendly and highly competitive technology due to its low investment and low operating costs (high electrical efficiency and degree of automation). KERN S&D technology complies with the EU directives on Best Available Technologies (BAT) for chlor-alkali production (Directive 2010/75/EU).
